Change is good!
We have some great changes in MSN Spaces.
Have a picture that has a great story around it…you can now add a description to your photos. Your viewers can now add comment to photos as well as blogs. So make sure to go to someone’s photo album and leave a comment on your favorite photo as well. We’ve also gotten rid of that pesky storage limit. You can now upload up to 500 PHOTOS A MONTH!
Great news for those of you living in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France or Japan. You can now make money with MSN Spaces. You heard me. Make Money! With Amazon.com if you sign up for an associates ID, whenever anyone buys a book from Amazon.com by linking through from your space, you get a portion of that. So make sure to put up all of your favorite and maybe not so favorite books online.
In the same vain if you live in the US or Canada, you can earn money by allowing Kanoodle ads to run in your space.
In love with your brand new Xbox 360! Of course you are. Well now you can show that love by adding your Xbox Recent Games Played and your Xbox Gamercard to your MSN Space. There are even five new themes all about Xbox.
Speaking of themes there are now over 100 to choose from.
We haven’t forgotten blogging either. You can now post entries from three different email addresses instead of just one. For those of you who like to keep your space clean, we have also included multiple check delete. No more going click, delete, click, delete, click, delete. Select all the ones you want to get rid of and click delete…..EASY! We’ve included better blog navigation (i.e. View more entries links and Previous/Next within posts) and you can now choose how you want your blog entries to appear (by date or entry title)
And if all that is still not enough. We’ve beefed up permissions, Search , Integrated Member Directory and included lots of new fun stuff in Profile (General, Social, Contact Info), updated profile module with actionable photo, and included the

Member Directory and MSN Spaces Profile
Created back in 2000 Member Directory allowed users to create and search for Public profiles. Since then, we’ve launched MSN Spaces and let's just say that there were some redundancies between the services :-). But also, we have gotten tons of requests to expand this already popular service, so we are taking it to the next level! We have upgraded Member Directory into MSN Spaces Profile!
With this new and improved service you can:
- Increasing types of information you can share.
- Have control over who has private access to subsets of information rather than having to share all fields with the public.
- If you want to go beyond Profile you'll have access to the latest in Spaces for features like themes, notifications via “gleams”, and showing up on contact card.
If you had an account on Member Directory it has been migrated over, so to get started using this great new product!
If you have questions please contact MSN Support!

Talking about Live Contacts
For those of you who don’t want to worry about updating your address books, we’d love your help testing our new beta feature – Live Contacts. With Live Contacts, the next time you move or change jobs, your contact info will automatically be updated for those you care about. No more mass e-mails or cutting and pasting into address books. It’s that simple.
How does this work?
Live Contacts allows you to share different information with different groups of people. You set the permission levels. For example, you can share your personal info with your Messenger buddies and your business info with the people who can view your Space. These people can subscribe to your contact info to automatically receive any updates you make. They can view this on your Spaces profile or their Messenger/Hotmail/Mail Beta contact list.
How do I get started?
There are two parts to this: sharing your contact info and subscribing to updates from others.
To start sharing your contact info, click on “Edit Profile” on your Space and scroll down to the Contact Info section of your Profile.
1. Fill out as much information as you want in the Personal and Business sections.
2. Decide who can see your contact information using the “Permissions” settings.
3. Choose who you want to tell about sharing your contact info. If they subscribe to your info, they can get automatic updates.
To subscribe: As your friends start using this feature, you will receive email invitations from them. Simply click on the link “Make contact information live” to get automatic updates from this person.
I’m worried about giving out my contact information… how do I know this is secure?

Talking about Spaces Cleanup Tool
Hi everyone, A member of the Spaces team, came up with a great tool to help cleanup comments or trackback spam! It's a great little tool but I want to let everyone know that it is completely unsupported and use at your own risk! However, we know that alot of you out there have been asking for something similar to this, so I thought it would be great to include you on this, until the spaces elves create a permanent solution!
Quote
Spaces Cleanup Tool
I often find myself cleaning up comment or trackback spam. These are comments or trackback that are either out of scope or are attempting to drive traffic to a specific site. Currently, it is very tedious to delete multiple items. I created the Spaces Cleanup tool to help.
Before I explain the tool, I want to be clear that this tool is not endorsed or supported. I have tested this tool against my own space. Feel free to use this tool at your own risk. It is very likely this tool will be broken at some point by an update to Spaces (it is designed so I can update it if necessary), and I expect, like the original Edit It tool, will become unnecessary in the future.
What is the Spaces Cleanup Tool?
It is a button you can add to your Internet Explorer toolbar (via your favorites). When you are editing your space (either the "Home" Page or "Blog" Page, select this tool from favorites menu to convert all the individual delete options to checkboxes. You can quickly check multiple items and delete them. On the "Blog" edit page, if you expand any items, you can click the Spaces Cleanup button again to reconvert any new delete buttons.
When you are finished selecting items for deletion, click the "Permanently Delete Checked Items" button added to your web-page (immediately below the Home, Profile, etc., tabs). Once confirmed, sit back, and the selected items will be deleted. Once all the items are deleted, the page will reload.
How do I Install the Spaces Cleanup Tool?
Visit the Spaces Cleanup Tool page and follow the instructions. 9月2日

To: Google Talk....From: MSN Messenger
Dear Google Talk,
First, let me officially welcome you to the communications client market. I've lived here for nearly ten years and let me tell you, it’s a place full of energy and excitement; I'm certain you will enjoy your stay here. For one thing, there’s always something to do - building new feature sets, collecting customer feedback, reading reviews, or watching market trends. It’s almost impossible to get bored. You’ll also find the other members of the community are extremely engaging. AIM and Yahoo are always up for a chat, while Skype is great for having long talk. ICQ, GAIM, and Trillian seem get along well with everyone.
Pleasantries aside, The real purpose of this letter is to let you know how I feel about you (oh! I’m blushing!):
I like that you are the kind of IM client that likes to live the simple life. You’re not one for frills, and you keep the baggage to a minimum. You don’t play games, and I never feel like you’re trying to sell yourself. When I’m with you, I feel relaxed and comfortable knowing that there won’t be any surprises.
It’s crazy how two IM clients like us can be so similar yet so different. You are so dedicated to your primary functions, that you have a chance at really mastering them. I love the way you concatenate messages from the same person, and that I can choose the names for my buddies. Your call connection time is very fast, and your sound effects are pleasant too. I, on the other hand, spend my energy in many different directions at once. I value chat and voice, but I also get a kick out of video and personal customization. I love helping people to share files, and stay engaged with whiteboard, P4 apps, and games. I like the silliness and vibrancy that winks and emoticons and dynamic display pictures can bring to an otherwise static interaction. I have users with such a wide variety of interests and it’s important to me to keep all these things going so they can pick and choose. I admit, though, that concentrating on so much at once sometimes makes it tough to give each feature the spotlight it deserves.(In some cases, impossible – providing simplicity and extensive choice can be mutually exclusive).
But I love this about us, I love that we’re so different because it means that we have a lot to learn from each other. Maybe you will build up a robust feature set and I will improve my usability. Maybe your straightforward interface will bring new people into the IM market who have been intimidated out of it by the more complex clients. By using one another as a role model

MSN Video updated
If you haven't checked out MSN Video, you are missing out. Lots of different content providers like MSNBC, Fox Sports, Showtime, iFilm, Weather Channel, Maxim, Discovery Networks, Universal Music Group, and more.
In this latest release, the performance is significantly improved and the site is easier to navigate (my only pet peeves before). They have also added search capability to search the entire catalog. Pretty darn cool.
Now think about all the cool opportunities to integrate this service with Spaces... ;) 8月12日

News travels fast!
Wow! It took less than 20 hours for the news about the release of the PowerToys to hit the mainstream media. Mike Torres is quoted abundantly in this article in PC World.
On top of PowerToys, last week we also released a bunch of new services. First is MSN Filter, where bloggers write about specific topics such as Music, TV, Tech & Gadgets. This has been an incubation project by Adam Sheppard and you can read more on his blog. There has been a ton of commentary on this in the blogosphere - check out http://technorati.com/search/%22msn%20filter%22 to read more.
Then we have the release of MSN Spaces Mobile in nine countries. Now you can use your mobile phone to access Spaces and perform some of the most popular functions. Mike talks about it on his blog.
Last month, we also released the MSN Screensaver. This is a cool new add-in to your MSN Toolbar that let's you subscribe to RSS feeds from your favorite Spaces, news sources, and even gives you weather, IM buddies online and emails unread! Download it now at http://screensaver.msn.com.
Comscore released a report on the US blogging market last week and Moz talks about it on his blog. The report focuses on the US only, but on a global basis Spaces has over 50M users according to Comscore, and that's just in seven months!
Karen attended the BlogHer conference and writes about women and blogging on here Space.
For kicks, you should stop by Tony's Space and ask him who has been hitting on him recently. And the biggest news of all is that a bird pooped on poor Maya. Give here some consolation!
That's it for now. Let us know if you have questions or things you would like to see on this Space.
